How to join Batala Bermo
We are a very friendly group and always welcome new players. You do not need any previous experience, only a sense of fun and enthusiasm!
We meet for two hours a week on a Wednesday at the Sandancer Nightclub in Barmouth (roughly 7pm to 9pm).
If you fancy having a go, just bring yourself - we will supply everything else you need to join in on your first session -that is a drum, belt, sticks, beaters, ear plugs and leg pads.
If you decide you want to come again, you will need to purchase your own ear plugs (50p Dol Farmers mart, or more preferably ER20 musicians earplugs that cut-out high frequency noise, but leave voices undistorted - approx. £10 eBay), sticks (£3 eBay) and leg pads (£10 Freestyle Leisure) and contribute £2 per rehearsal towards tea/coffee/biscuits.
Your costume, drum, belt and beaters are all provided from money we get from playing gigs and buskin'.
What we do at the rehearsals:
7pm to 8pm is usually sitting on the floor going through new rhythms using sticks. We then have a short tea break and then from 8pm to 9pm we put on our drums and blow the roof off!
